News, What is Covered and What is Not

Painting with headlines going in different directions and hand painted images collaged from a news paper.
Headlines (March 8-14, 2020), 22 by 23 inches, acrylic, charcoal, graphite and image transfers on canvas, 2021

I am continuing my examination of news and what is covered and what is avoided as I document the truth in our current times. This painting looks back to the week of March 8, 2020. It is significant and memorable because it is when the US went into lockdown to help prevent the spread of Covid19.

It was almost a year ago but the events of that week still feel extraordinary and surreal. The text in this work is blurred to signify and capture the confusion and uncertainty we all went through.
