Jason McCoy, All the Notes are There Already

    Apr 6, 2021 ·

    DRAWING CHALLENGE XX

We would like to congratulate Sherri Hollaender, Gordon Fearey, Stephanie Franks, Dee Shapiro, Jennifer Viola, Kit Warren and Joni Wehrli for being the featured contestants of our Drawing Challenge XX, which was inspired by the following words by American jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk (1917-1982).

We would like to thank the artist Philip Gerstein for suggesting these lines.

"When you look at the keyboard, all the notes are there already.
But if you mean a note enough, it will sound different.
You got to pick the notes you really mean!”

A collage pf paper and drawn charcoal of the Nike of Samrothrace, an ancient Greece sculpture of the winged goddess of victory.

We are pleased to present the works of ten featured contestants in the accompanying virtual exhibition.
