Greta Thunberg, 24 by 36 inches, acrylic, charcoal and image transfers on canvas, 2020. Investigating climate change, corporate greed and the truth behind current events, I focused this artwork on and those who take a stand for what they believe.

This painting portrays Greta Thunberg, a 16 year old Swedish climate activist. In 2018, at the age of 15, she began protesting by spending her school days outside the Swedish parliament. She called for stronger action on climate change by holding up a sign reading School strike for climate. Soon, other students began engaging in similar protests in their own communities.

In seeking truth in current and historic events I documented Thunberg and some of the important issues that she is bringing attention to and the change that she and millions of citizens around the world are demanding. The powerful words from her 2019 UN Climate Action Summit speech are in the background of this portrait as she calls on giant corporations, the fossil fuel industry and policy makers to take action to stop the destruction of the earth.
